Dalhousie is one of the most immaculate hill station in Himachal Pradesh, and has been famous summer retreat since it was established in 1854 by the British. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, thick green cover of forests, revitalizing ambience make Dalhousie a perfect place where one can relax, chill and retreat himself mentally and physically. It’s easy to reach there because it is well connected city with all the major places within Himachal as well with other major cities in India.
Town is a combination of neatly planned streets and colonial era architecture set amid rich green surroundings. You can also visit khajjiar, a small town of hills located short distance from dalhousie. Enclose by thick cover of pine and deodar trees. Other attractions are the pleasing khajjiar lake and 12th century khajji nag temple. You can also trek to the kalatop wildlife reserve and many adventure activities like paragliding, horse riding, zorbing etc at khajjiar.
Best thing to do there is to go for a walk around the city. The place is itself is blessed with nature and gratifying beauty. I completely believe that such beautiful places are there for us to pass some time leaving away from all worries and perceive how much nature has to offer to us.
The center of activities, restaurants and shopping ‘Gandhi chowk’, which is also the starting point of most of the treks. And on the other side it is Subash chowk which is surrounded by Potrein hill. St. Andrew church, St. Patrick’s church and St. Francis church are some of the places for those who like to praise architectural work.
Dalhousie has winter like cold climate throughout the year. Land slides and road closing during July-Mid Sep. During May-July climate is little bit warm in the day, cold in the mornings and in the night.
From Oct-Feb in winter, weather becomes quite cold and in Dec & Jan you can enjoy snow here. So I hope that you all have made up your mind to visit this beautiful destination.
