Realme X vs. Xiaomi Redmi K20

Both brands Realme and Xiaomi’s Redmi are well known for their crazy pricing of feature packed phones.

Realme X and Redmi K20 are built for mid-budget segment, let us find out which one of them packs more punch.

For fair comparison I am using specification of high end devices offered by Realme X and Redmi K20.

Processor –

Redmi K20 have upper hand in this, as it offers a newer chip that is Snapdragon 730 Octa Core with Adreno 618 as graphic processing unit also an upgrade.

Realme X has a Snapdragon 710 Octa core with Adreno 616, the clock speed is identical in both phones.

RAM & Storage –

Realme wins this round as it comes with 8GB of RAM while Redmi offers only 6GB of RAM, and as you know extra RAM always comes in handy in Android, they both  have inbuilt storage of 128GB.

Camera –

At first glance the triple camera setup of Xiaomi is more alluring, it features 48MP main camera with 13MP telephoto lens and 8MP zoom lens, but main snapper uses Sony IMX582 sensor.

In Realme you get a two camera setup 48MP main camera and a 5MP secondary camera, the sensor used here is Sony IMX586, yes the same as Oneplus 7.

In front Redmi has a 20MP snapper and Realme uses a 16MP Sony IMX 471

Display –

There is very little difference when it comes display, screen size of Realme is larger but its not that significant, both devices have FHD+ AMOLED display with screen resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels. Pixel density of Realme is 394 PPI and of Redmi is 403 PPI.

You will have very similar display experience in both devices.

Battery and Cooling–

Redmi K20 offers more juice in comparison it has 4000 mAh battery which comes with a 27W charger, where the Realme X has a 3765 mAh battery it comes bundled with 20W charger.

Realme has a new type of gel cooling technique, which uses a copper foil + graphite flakes + aluminium alloy for better cooling.

Xiaomi is using eight-layer graphite cooling system and a two directional heat dissipater, it also has second generation of Game Turbo mode.

Pricing –

Realme X is cheaper out of two, the base version starts from ₹ 16,999 and high end one ₹ 19,999. Redmi K20 starts at ₹ 21,999 and the higher one is of ₹ 23,999, both are on Flipkart.

Verdict –

From processing point of view Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 is more powerful and battery efficient, but as a complete package Realme X provides better value for money.
