Not been much time since they launched Realme X, and they are back at it, once again going head to head with Xiaomi, this time battle is in between triple camera versus the quad camera, who will win this round? Only time will tell, till then let us look at the specifications provided in Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.
Both have a decent processor Realme 5 featuring Snapdragon 665 which is built with 11nm LPP consisting of 4 × Kryo 260 Gold clocked at 2.0 GHz and 4 × Kryo 260 Silver with clock speed of 1.8 GHz having Adreno 610 as GPU.
Realme 5 Pro offers a bit more power with Snapdragon 712 which build on 10nm LPP and have 2 × Kyro 360 Gold clocked at 2.3 GHz and 6 × Kyro 360 Silver with clock speed of 1.7 GHz as working cores and Adreno 616 as GPU.
These devices have IPS LCD screen, Realme 5 with 6.5 inch screen with resolution 1600 × 700 and pixel density of 269 ppi & 20:9 ratio whereas Realme 5 Pro comes with a 6.3 inch screen and screen resolution of 2340 × 1080 and pixel density of 401 ppi offering 19.5:9 ratio.
As said before they are using quad camera setup as their USP, Realme probably is first brand to offer this setup in this price segment, if you are looking for that 48 MP Sony IMX 586 this might be a great chance to grab Realme 5 Pro, other camera sensor are as follows 8 MP wide angle, 2 MP for Macro shots and other 2 MP for depth sensing, Realme 5 also have same set of sub cameras but main snapper is of 12MP.
In front we get a 16 MP wide angle camera in Pro while a 13 MP wide angle in Realme 5.
RAM & Storage –
Realme 5 comes with RAM varying from 3GB and 4 GB, with 32GB of storage for the base model and option of 64GB or 128GB in 4GB variant. Realme 5 Pro offers 4GB, 6GB and 8GB of RAM with 64GB of storage in first two and 128GB of storage in 8GB variant, even if you choose the starting models you don’t have to worry about running out of storage as both devices come with dedicated microSD slot and supports upto 256GB.
This is the first time Realme has used a bigger battery in their device, Realme 5 comes with a huge 5000mAh Li-Po battery, and Realme 5 Pro has a 4035mAh Li-Po battery, pro also has VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
Realme opted for Polycarbonate again its back panel but finishing is pretty good so it gives feel of glass, the pattern adds to its looks, in the front we get a water drop styled notch in the centre and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front panel.
User Interface and Operating System –
Both Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro run on ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie, ColorOS has been updgraded with better visuals and optimisation, there are still some Junk apps present but most of them can be deleted.
Pricing and Launch –
Realme 5 has base price of ₹ 9,999 and as specs increase it goes to ₹10,999 maximum being ₹ 11,999.
Realme 5 Pro starts from ₹ 13,999 with middle variant priced at ₹ 14,999 and last one will cost you around ₹ 16,999.
They will be launched on Flipkart exclusively, Realme 5 going on sale on 27th of August and Realme 5 Pro will be available from 4th of September.
The devices looks promising to me, pricing will cover major demographic ranging from budget to that under 20k.
In my opinion I would have liked it more if they provided VOOC 3.0 charging with 5000mAh battery instead of regular 10 Watt charger if Realme also had USB type-C it would have more of steal, Realme 5 Pro has fast charging with USB type-C but misses out on battery.
If you’re looking for a switch it can be a good device overall.
