iPhone 11

Can this Apple kill all the mangoes in the market…?

All the speculation come to halt, Apple finally took off the curtain from new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. These devices will go on sale starting from 27th September, people already have mixed feeling about the new iPhone based on the launch event, does Apple messed up this time? Let us see what new features this devices hold and is it really worth the penny?

Design –

Looks is the probably the first thing you notice in a phone, same as its predecessor it features a metal frame and glass panels enclosed inside it, in iPhone 11 aluminium is used while in iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max they went with steel in making its chassis, also it is water resistant up to 2 metres base model, 4 metres for Pro/Pro Max and till 30 minutes, the camera bump is bigger but it does not look like an issue to me.

Processor –

They have decided to go with the new processor Apple A13 Bionic, according to tests which is faster than any of processor in the market, it is more energy efficient as well, we will get to see more real world action when the device get into the real world.

Camera –

It is good to see a dual and triple camera setup, but it is not that much innovation as they say it to be, iPhone 11 has 12 MP dual wide angle camera setup while in 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max get a third 12 MP telephoto lens but still getting two wide angle lenses? Ridiculous, if they have combined the ultra-wide with a zoom function to get two wide settings from one lens I would have be more inclined to call it an innovation.

They have tweaked the camera application as well which is nice, switching between camera is seamless and you can do it while recording too, night mode seems promising, now all of the camera can shoot in 4K 60fps and slow motion, we get a video editor too.
Let us see how it performs in DxOMark.

Display –

The base model that is iPhone 11 comes with a 6.1 inch Liquid Retina HD display having screen resolution of 1732×828 pixels with pixel density 326ppi and max brightness of 625 nits, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max feature Super Retina XDR OLED display with screen resolution 2436×1125 pixels and 2688×1242 pixels with pixel density of 458ppi, max brightness upto 800 nits.

Battery –

It seems Apple is now putting some effort in improving the battery, following the trend of their last hit iPhone XR. New iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max feature 3110 mAh, 3190 mAh and 3500 mAh battery, you definitely will get few extra hours to work on.

Miscellaneous –

  • Face ID will now support better recognition at odd angles.
  • Use of hard glass, would have been nice if they said something about name of glass instead of keeping it so ambiguous.
  • iOS 13 now has a dark mode, with better optimisation and energy efficiency.

iPhone 11 have 4GB RAM while the Pro and Pro Max variants feature a 6GB RAM. The storage you get range starting from 64GB up to 256 GB, while in Pro and Pro Max storage goes up to 512 GB.The Base variant of iPhone 11 is priced at ₹ 64,900, iPhone 11 Pro at ₹ 99,000 and iPhone 11 Pro Max at ₹ 1,09,900.
In my opinion apart from camera iPhone 11 seems okay, but paying another ₹ 30K for getting a telephoto lens is too wild, if they had a dual camera setup consisting of a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide sensor, this phone would have been much more reasonable.
