After an excellent NXT Takeover and a pretty eventful Hall Of Fame 2019 ceremony, fans of professional wrestling now look forward to the greatest event in sports entertainment history: Wrestlemania. Wrestlemania is the biggest night of the professional wrestling year and it is an absolute spectacle, the grandeur and the majesty can not be matched.
Wrestlemania 35 which takes place on April 7th promises to be an amazing show with its absolute stacked match card and the talent pool of the people competing being deep. Following are my predictions.
Shane McMahon vs The Miz (Falls Count Anywhere)
My pick: The Miz
This personal rivalry is going to spill over the entire MetLife Stadium with the Last Man Standing stipulation coming into play. Though the stipulation
Kurt Angle vs Baron Corbin
My pick: Kurt Angle
The fans haven’t taken kindly to the fact that the legendary Kurt Angle’s final match is going to be against the not very well liked Baron Corbin, which is why I believe that Kurt Angle is going to win this one to send the people home happy.
AJ Styles vs Randy Orton
My pick: AJ Styles
This one is a little harder to predict. This
Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio (United States championship)
My pick: Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe has been on an absolute tear since winning the championship and I don’t think that even a high flying legend like Rey Mysterio can take the championship from the much larger and dangerous Samoan.
Bobby Lashley vs Finn Balor (Intercontinental championship)
My pick: Finn Balor
This rivalry has been going on for a while and now that the Demon is making his Wrestlemania debut, even the physically imposing Bobby Lashley has little chance against the Demon.
Roman Reigns vs Drew Mcintyre
My pick: Roman Reigns
This is another match which is flying under the radar for a lot of people. It’s going to be Reigns’ first major singles match since overcoming Leukemia, and this is also McIntyre’s first Mania match since returning to the company. I see the Big Dog taking this one.
The Boss and Hug Connection vs The Divas of Doom vs The IIconics vs The Samoan Slaughterhouse (Women’s Tag Team championship)
My pick: The Boss And Hug Connection
Though the odds are stacked against the current champions, I don’t see any team stepping up to dethrone The Boss And Hug Connection so soon after they won the championship.
The Usos vs Rusev and Nakamura vs The Bar vs Aleister Black and Ricochet (SmackDown Tag Team championship)
My pick: The Usos
Another fatal 4 way match for the tag championships, and another case where I foresee the champions retaining. The Usos are being punished by the authorities for helping the New Day in the Gauntlet match but I see them persevering and holding on to the gold.
The Revival vs The Major Brothers (Raw Tag Team Championship)
My pick: The Major Brothers
Now this is a controversial prediction. The Revival are one the best tag teams on the planet and Curt Hawkins, one half of the Major Brothers, is on a 250 odd losing streak. But Wrestlemania is where streaks end, and I think it’s time for this streak to end too.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
My pick: Braun Strowman
It’s very hard to pick a winner for a battle royal but with Strowman having most of the spotlight along with the SNL guys, I see him going home with the trophy.
Women’s Battle Royal
My pick: Lacey Evans
Again, going out on a limb here as there are no
Buddy Murphy vs Tony Nese (Cruiserweight championship)
My pick: Buddy Murphy
It is unfortunate that the Cruiserweight championship match is once again on the pre-show but that has never stopped the residents of 205 Live from wowing the crowds. Buddy Murphy has been an excellent champion and he will continue being an excellent champion
Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar (Universal championship)
My pick: Seth Rollins
Brock Lesnar is one of the most dominant wrestlers the industry has ever seen, and he has maintained a stranglehold on the Universal championship since early 2017. I think it’s time for change and I think Rollins is going to burn down the reign of the champion.
Triple H vs Batista (No Holds Barred)
My pick: Triple H
This is a rivalry that goes back more than 15 years. Triple H has done everything that is to do in the industry, except beat Batista. It is not the first time that Triple H’s career is on the line in a No Holds Barred match at Wrestlemania, and I think once again he’s going to do what he’s never done before which beating Batista.
Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan (WWE Championship)
My pick: Kofi Kingston
In a wonderful story that started when Mustafa Ali got injured and Kofi was the one who substituted for him. This story has seen its highs and lows and lots of shenanigans. But more importantly, this is going to be Kofi’s first one on one WWE Championship match, and I think the perfect conclusion would be Kofi finally getting his moment.
Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch (SmackDown and Raw Women’s championships winner take all)
My pick: Becky Lynch
This is going to be a historic match as it’s going to be the first time ever that women are going to main event a Wrestlemania. The stakes could not be higher as Rousey and Flair both are putting their championships on the line in this mega main event. The road to getting here has had its bumps and road blocks but what a culmination it is going to be.
It promises to be long but wonderful night for wrestling fans all over the world.
