We all are aware of the new British brand in the market and its first offering to Indian roads. Let’s not dig into the details and specifications rather have a look on the top 5 reasons to consider MG Hector as your new wheels.
MG has offered a number of engine combinations including diesel motor sourced from Fiat which also powers Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass and different petrol engines including the Hybrid variant. The petrol engine is mated with both automatic and manual transmission but the manual variant is the only one that comes with hybrid tech which serves 3 purposes i.e. providing extra torque, advanced braking system and start-stop functionality to the engine. The automatic variant is DCT one and the 1.5L petrol machine feels very responsive and comfortable to drive. The diesel, on the other hand, does not offer an automatic but the 2.0L engine is reliable one as we have seen with other rival brands.
First in class features
MG has loaded this car with features, some of which are segment first, which makes this car stand out from the crowd and surely a considerable option for your next buy. Features like powered tail gate, 360 camera, massive touch infotainment control etc. give this car a sense of uniqueness and these features are yet to be seen in rival cars. Apart from some of the first in class features, this car also gets many features like electrically adjustable seats, infinity sound system, automatic wipers and headlamps, massive sunroof, which are something that we haven’t seen for the first time but surely adds to the practicality and comfort for the person behind the wheel.
Design and space
I must say that the design that we have seen on this car is the most recent and up-to-date by far and many design elements like headlamp placing, turn indicators, alloy wheels are in line to the market trend. The interior designing is also top-notch as the choice of layout and material used is extremely amazing. The dash looks clean and not at all busy with toggle switches and buttons, thanks to the large touch screen at the centre, and the all-black interior with leather all around makes it look more beautiful than ever. Talking about the space, this car is the longest in its segment which means you get a larger wheelbase which means you get ample leg-room, knee-room and under thigh support. The car is tall so there shouldn’t be any issue with the head room as well but the width could have been better. The boot space is enormous and going on long road trips with lots of stuff won’t be an issue.
There is some cool stuff that we have seen in a car for the first time in this price segment and it is the 24×7 internet connectivity through which your car is connected all the time to you. You can access most of the features of your car with the mated mobile app and you can simply track car’s location, turn the engine on/off, turn the AC on/off, and check the status of the car like fuel level, tyre pressure, range etc. An Airtel sim, which is 5G ready, is embedded into the infotainment system which keeps the car connected to the internet all the time and also allows you to access maps with live traffic, music on Gaana application and much more. Apart from all this the main highlight is the AI assistant that has been introduced to this car that can take voice commands and do the needful action with the prefix “Hello MG” maybe that is why the company calls it the ‘human thing’ as you can open/close sunroof, control AC or music with your voice.
