There was a time when television was seen as a lower artistic medium, a dumping ground for entertainment not good enough to make it to the big screen.
However, updates in technology and the way we consume media changed the game and nowadays some of our best dramas, thrillers and comedies comes from the small screen. Streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu and others have completely transformed our ways of watching TV and have revolutionised the content too.
As number of series continues to grow, emphasis is not only on quantity but also the quality. There are a lot of amazing TV series out there and am sure your personal “Must watch list” is likely a terrifying length already and might be getting longer by the day.
Well, looking at the schedules of this year, I can say with some degree of certainty that this “problem” isn’t going to go away any time soon.
With such busy watching schedule, there might not be enough scope for the new TV shows but you sure as hell can’t afford to miss the upcoming seasons of your favourite shows. TV shows don’t play with books anymore. Series take breaks that can last anywhere from a few months to a few years. Shows pop up on different channels than they last aired on, or they shift from TV to streaming.
Here is list of all the returning shows in 2019 you need to fit into your schedule.

Game of Thrones

I am just writing down the obvious here. Game of thrones is probably the first thing that might have popped in your minds after reading the heading of this blog.
It’s hard to imagine a bigger, more anticipated spectacle in the world of 2019 TV than the final season of GOT. Show is set to return in April with 6 episodes of one and a half hour each. We all know that lot of characters we love are going to die, but that doesn’t stop us from wondering how this amazing fantastical adventure ends.

It’s been nearly 4 years since the second season of HBO’s “True Detective” aired, and fans of the anthology crime drama are eager for its upcoming new season starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. This time along with Mahershala Ali, Steven Dorff star as Arkansas detectives investigating the disappearance of two children. Like the first season, this iteration will span decades. Show have already started and will comprise of 8 episodes.

Gotham

In 2019, GOTHAM will air its fifth and final season, wrapping up this beloved series in a farewell event that will focus on Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) transformation into the caped crusader.
Fox granted “Gotham” a much-deserved final season, and the makers behind this DC’s best superhero-themed show are looking to make the most of it. Jim Gordon and the Gotham City Police Department will be trying to hold their city together, as the growing mass of villains will try to tear it apart.
Unlike the 22 episodes in all previous seasons, this will have only 12 episodes that will be aired from January to march.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

This hilarious story of New York’s funniest police department is ready for a new season, with a brand-new home NBC. Last year brought a big disappointment for the fans when FOX cancelled this show but then NBC came in the picture to save this beloved show and why not, coz Brooklyn nine nine is one of the most watched comedy show of present times and am sure it’s going to be a real profitable deal for NBC.
SNL star performer Andy Samberg and Emmy winner Andre Braugher lead this diverse, critically acclaimed ensemble that solves crimes like only they can – with tons of humor and the heart to match.

Stranger Things

This Netflix amazing science fiction horror series have already amazed us a lot in past and story isn’t over yet. Thrilling tales of town of Hawkins will be back to amaze us in July this year. Series will comprise of episode and will premiere on 4th July.
Starting 2 seasons of Stranger Things received critical acclaim for its characterization, pacing, atmosphere, acting, soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s genre films. In December 2017, Netflix ordered a third season, which began production in April 2018. Though this season is taking more time but it’s just a step by makers to make sure that our favourite series continues to be as thrilling as ever.

Sacred Games

Being an Indian, there is no chance I was gonna leave this series, which in a sort of way have brought significant changes to Indian TV series. I mean, how often we see such bold and classic series being made at such a big level in India, but thanks to Netflix it have started now and was followed by some more alike series. And we can say that Sacred Games have somehow revolutionised Indian TV series.
